John 20:30,31: "Many other signs truly Jesus did in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book: but these are written , that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through His Name."

Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. May you prosper even as your soul prospers. Hebrews 9:27 is coming. Sorry to make you wait and thanks for your patience. I am now somewhat functional, and in an hour, headed out to the doctor to see if he can make me a bit more so.
At 02:38 PM 5/29/2010 -0500, you wrote:---"Harry Osborne has been spreading a rumor that you are now a member at a liberal congregation. I am trying now to get a copy of his accusation and supposed "proof", but while waiting I thought I'd just ask you where you currently attend."
Here's the situation.
When we moved back to Marshall in 2003, we found that the big liberal church had split several years earlier. Thinking that the ones who left were liberals we sort out and had a a meeting with them. Surprise of surprises - - the ones who had left - - 55 or 60 adults, plus children - - were the liberals. The Eastern Hills congregation had decided to end its practices in liberalism, and those who left wanted to remain, so split off.
I personally talked with both one of the former elders and the former preacher who were instrumental in getting the institutional practices stopped. They left because there were some members still there who did want to continue. The remaining four elders "accommodated" to this with the old Yater Tant "box in the vestibule" approach. There is a covered shed behind the building and anyone who wants can put into it whatever he/she desires to get to Boles, Medina, etc. Then once a month, these outfits send up a truck to pick up the stuff. Mostly, the elders do not even know when this happens.
Why did we change? For one, Carla had three major auto accidents in two years, and is no longer safe to drove the 25 miles to/from the congregation in Carthage where we worshipped for eight years. There were no hard feelings or discontent, just recognition of something we could no longer deny. Our daughter and son-in-let want to move earlier, and I was the resister until the end.
What Osborne sees is the web site that has on it some items he does not like, but are not congregationally financed.
He and others of his ilk are content to snipe and criticize, and demand rigid conformity with his particular form of doctrinal-creed. He, Halbrook, and about 15 others have a group who each has assigned certain preachers on whom they collect and file all the info they can, to use it to beat others over the head. I found out that I am one of Osborne's assignees from something he EMailed me some time back. He could only have gotten that info by diligent searching, so he tripped over his eagerness.
I would think that brethren would encourage congregations such as this one to continue to progress, but instead, their Pharisical attitude is to demand all submit to them, OR ELSE! And of course, there goes congregational autonomy.
Hope this clears up your questions.
Need to close now, get ready to go to the doctor, and hope he has a few solutions to my continuing misery.
Best to you, yours, and all God's faithful there.

Christ's disciples are Christians ONLY. We speak where the Bible speaks, are silent where the Bible is silent. We do Bible things in Bible ways, and call Bible things in Bible words. In faith, we have unity; in opinion, Liberty. In all things, charity. Otherwise, mga salita wala sa akalt, ng biblia.
